Fairtrade's Theory of Change comes to life in an interactive format
Beyond certification, Fairtrade supports producers through programs and services, and advocates for more sustainable trade policies for all. To clearly outline the focus, results and impacts of its work and following a thorough assessment of impact, Fairtrade updated its Theory of Change (ToC). The ToC explains how Fairtrade’s interventions benefit farmers and workers.
European Congress of Young Farmers
The European People's Party is the largest political group in the European Parliament. The EPP is centre-right, a pro-European political party which gathers over 81 parties from 43 countries. We supported the organization of the 8th edition of the European People's Party European Congress of Young Farmers, a unique event in Brussels which has for the last 10 years awarded the work and achievements of young farmers.
Starting the campaign 'Smoke Free Start'
Did you know that the percentage of women who smoke during pregnancy (7.7%) has not decreased in recent years? Due to the risks and health damage caused by tobacco smoke, there are children who literally see their dreams go up in smoke. That has to change. In February, the Smokefree Start campaign launched the #zorgvooreenrookvrijstart campaign, aimed at all care providers involved in pregnancy and the growing child. We helped the Trimbos Institute with the design and implementation of this campaign. The message is clear: caregivers can make the difference for a smoke-free start for every child.
Discussing the Dutch vaccinations system in a Societal Café
In collaboration with HollandBio, we organized a Social Café about the opportunities for a more efficient vaccination policy. The event brought together various experts from the vaccination industry to discuss the challenges and opportunities of current vaccination policies. During the meeting, topics were discussed such as the impact of the corona pandemic on vaccination policy, the role of government and industry in stimulating innovation and the role of vaccination in the future. The Social Café provided a stage for discussion and cooperation between different parties and was a successful step towards a more efficient vaccination policy.
Mealworm ingredients authorized as novel food
Ynsect NL breeds and processes a specific type of larvae into ingredients for human consumption. We supported Ynsect NL with the novel food procedure for four lesser mealworm ingredients. The market approval of the lesser mealworm as a novel food means that a new sustainable source of protein is available that contributes to the protein transition.
Towards an improved composition of processed foods
The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport has asked us to support their communication about the National Approach to Product Improvement (NAPV). Therefore we build an information campaign on behalf of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. The motto of the campaign is: 'Every step counts: Together on the way to an improved product composition in 2030'. The events and the information campaign (spring 2022 – autumn 2023) have a positive approach, with the aim of informing all food producers about the NAPV and encouraging them to get started.
Gender Alliance for Innovation in Agriculture
At Schuttelaar & Partners, we actively support gender equality. For the next digital revolution in agriculture, we need to include diversity, equality and inclusion in our strategies. As Horizon 2020 Work Package Leader, we created the Gender Taskforce: a coalition of European stakeholders, dedicated to raising awareness and providing tools to build a more inclusive agri-tech sector. With this experience we started GAIA, the Gender Alliance for Innovation in Agriculture. Building on the great foundations set by SmartAgriHubs, we want to leverage our ecosystem beyond this European project.
