Engaging citizens in waste reduction

Last week, our colleagues Philipp Erbach and Wido van Drecht attended the kick-off event for the Eco Champions initiative in Pristina, Kosovo. This new EU project aims to encourage citizens and communities across the EU to reduce waste and actively participate in sustainable waste management practices over the next two years. During the event, Philipp and Wido showcased S&P's efforts, with a particular focus on our EU activities and packaging initiatives in the Netherlands. They also participated in two panel discussions, where they shared insights on waste management and engaging citizens in these efforts.

Delivering medical supplies to Ukraine

In autumn, Steven Odding and 27 rugby players delivered seven vehicles filled with essential medical supplies to Ukraine as part of the Protect Ukraine initiative. They participated in a rugby tournament in Lviv, where many players had not played since the start of the war, some even on leave from the front lines. The event highlighted life amid the war, with injured soldiers supporting their teammates. Steven shared that while Lviv seemed almost normal at first glance, signs of war were evident everywhere. This was a powerful reminder that even in a city striving to maintain a sense of normalcy, the war remains ever-present. Despite ongoing needs, aid to Ukraine is declining, emphasizing the importance of continued support.
